It is normal attorneys involve in court cases and arbitration cases in the United State, even some charge large amount of fees. How to compensate for these costs? This is always an important question. Whether judges or arbitrators in the United State support the claims for attorneys’ fees? What are the standards used in considering the amount to award as attorneys’ fees to the winning side? What evidences the party shall submit to support its claims of attorneys’ fees?
In order to answer these questions, the Beijing Arbitration Commission(BAC) is honored to invite Mr. Thomas J. Klitgaard from Dillingham & Murphy LLP to give a lecture on Standards for Awards of Attorney’s Fees in U.S. Mr. Klitgaard is also the arbitrator of BAC and adjunct professor in Asian Legal Systems, University of San Francisco School of Law.
Mr. Klitgaard would speak on the standards for awards of attorneys’ fees in the United States Federal District Courts for the Ninth Circuit, including the burden of proof, calculation of the “lodestar”, reasonable rate. This would be a very professional and profound program concerning attorneys’ fees in litigation and arbitration. Arbitrators, attorneys and other interested people are welcome to attend.
