Hong Kong Judiciary Study & Observation Group Visits BAC

In the afternoon of Sept. 9, 2010, Hong Kong Judiciary Study & Observation Group consisting of 14 persons visited Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC) to get understanding of the development of the arbitration system in the Chinese Mainland. The Group is led by Mr. To Kwai-fung, judge of Hong Kong High Court, and consists of judges from Hong Kong courts at all levels.

Secretary General WANG Hongsong introduced the development of arbitration cases in the Chinese Mainland after the enactment of the Arbitration Law, she took BAC as an example to introduce the successful experiences of the arbitration institutions in the Chinese Mainland in the implementation of the Arbitration Law and the ideas on international commercial arbitration, especially the experiences and practices of BAC in sticking to the institutional independence and non-governmental development, adhering to the justness and professionalism of the arbitrators, and actively developing diversified dispute resolution mechanisms by referring to the international practices; she also answered the questions raised by the Group on the arbitration system in the Chinese Mainland and the development of BAC. Secretary General WANG Hongsong also made a demonstration of BAC’s case disposal system and the online office system for arbitrators, and accompanied the Group to visit the Arbitration Halls, the International Conference Room, the offices of staff members and relevant places and facilities. In the exchange of opinions, Judge To also introduced the smooth execution of BAC’s awards in Hong Kong courts.

After the visit, the members of the Group said that they had a deeper understanding of the development of the arbitration system and arbitration institutions in the Chinese Mainland and expressed the thirst for more exchange opportunities with the arbitration institutions in the Chinese Mainland with BAC as the representative.

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
