In the morning of November 5, 2010, students of the international program for local students of Law School of Tsinghua University and LLM overseas students, led by Wang Chenguang, former Dean of Law School of Tsinghua University, paid a visit to Beijing Arbitration Commission.
Secretary General WANG Hongsong, on behalf of BAC, expressed hearty greetings to Prof. WANG Chenguang and the students. Prof. WANG Chenguang first thanked BAC for offering Tsinghua students the opportunity of learning about arbitration, and then Secretary General WANG Hongsong made a brief account of Chinese arbitration and BAC for the students. She analyzed the three biggest advantages of conducting arbitration in China and elaborated from eight perspectives the unique advantage of BAC in dispute resolution. Especially, she highlighted in a diagram the advantage of arbitration fees in comparison with litigation costs for cases with large disputed amount of money.

After the introduction, the students communicated with one another about a number of topics, such as the differences and similarities between arbitration and mediation, how to maintain the arbitration agency’s independence and impartiality, the qualification of arbitrators and arbitration secretary, etc. In addition, the representative of overseas students gave gifts to express their thanks to BAC. After the meeting, Prof. WANG Chenguang and the students had a visit to places such as the Arbitration Hall and the Case Acceptance Hall. The students all said that they would like to learn more about BAC and arbitration secretary in future.

It is a regular communication program for overseas students of LLM of Tsinghua University to visit BAC to learn about the mechanism of Chinese arbitration system and arbitration agencies. Till this year the communication program has been conducted four times. Students of this year consist of LLM overseas students from the USA, Hong Kong, and students of the international program for local students of Law School of Tsinghua University. It is said that students of the international class, first established this year, were strictly selected from excellent freshmen candidates of Tsinghua University.
