With BAC’s growing status on the international arbitration scene, numerous delegations have visited BAC in recent months from foreign law schools and sino-foreign joint programs (known in China as “SFCRS”), for purposes of on-site observation and study. On March 30, 2011, a delegation arrived from the Law School of the University of Rotterdam; on May 10 a delegation of law students from Finland’s University of Lapland; and on May 17, a group of participants in the “Chinese Tax Law Workshop,” co-run by the law schools of Remin University and France’s Aix-Marseille University.

BAC staff gave visiting students the rundown on arbitration in China today, and issues to anticipate when opting to arbitrate in China.Students found the discussion engaging and asked numerous questions, and were very impressed with the BAC’s progress, international-level competence, and ability to offer clients multi-layered dispute resolution services, encompassing arbitration, mediation and evaluation. At the same time, the students acquired a better understanding of Chinese arbitration practices and went away confident in local arbitral institutions’ competence to deal with even international commercial disputes.
