From April 26 to 27, 2012, the French and Chinese teachers and students of the cooperating education program “Chinese Tax Law Program” between Renmin University of China and Aix-Marseille University of France and the “Chinese Law Program” of the School of Law of Peking University3 visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission (the BAC) respectively.
Staff of the BAC specially arranged lectures on the history, status quo and future of the BAC for the visiting teachers and students. In the lectures, the development of China’a arbitration sector and the common problems in China’s arbitration practice were also presented. They attentively listened to the lectures and actively raised questions about the BAC and China’s arbitration. They were impressed by the achievements of the BAC in terms of internationalization and the diversity of dispute resolution services offered by the BAC, including arbitration, mediation and dispute review. The students expressed that the visit deepened their understanding of arbitration in China and further aroused their interest in it. They were also confident that they would like to select arbitration in China as the resolution for international commercial disputes in the future.
With the increasing publicity of the BAC in the international arbitration sector, there are more and more foreign schools of law and cooperating education programs who voluntarily contact and visit the BAC to study and discuss the theories and practices of China’s arbitration.
