On September 17, 2012, Wang Hongsong, Deputy Director of the Beijing Arbitration Commission (BAC), attended on invitation the 2012 meeting of “China Arbitration Day” which was hosted by Chinese European Arbitration Centre in Munich, Germany. More than seventy experts from the arbitration circles of China and Europe, including the representatives of various arbitration institutions such as BAC, China International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission, Hong Kong International Arbitration Center and Taipei Chinese Arbitration Association etc. attended the meeting, which was preside over by Dr. Eckart Brodermann, Chairman of the Chinese European Arbitration Centre.
At the meeting, Deputy Director Wang Hongsong made speeches on the topics of “Beijing Arbitration Commission - An Emerging International Arbitration Center” and “The Mediation Rules and Practice of BAC” respectively. In those speeches, based on detailed data and diagrams, and from a number of perspectives such as the evolution, business development, arbitration rules and the appointment and trainings of arbitrators of BAC, she presented to the attendees the characteristics of the internationalization of BAC, the experience of BAC in building up a diversified arbitration center for dispute resolution and the advantages as well as the characteristics of resolving disputes in Sino-European trade by mediation through introducing the founding of BAC, the application of arbitration rules and mediation of real cases. Her speeches were echoed and highly praised by the attendees.

During the meeting, Deputy Director Wang Hongsong also had extensive and in-depth discussions with arbitration experts from a few institutions such as Deutsche Institution für Schiedsgerichtsbarkeit e.V, Vienna International Arbitral Centre, Siemens AG, BMW AG, Goethe University, UNIDROIT and renowned law firms in Europe and China etc. on the issue of resolving economic and trade disputes between Europe and China through arbitration and mediation.
