Professor Albert Jan van den Berg, an authoritative expert in the area of international arbitration, visited BAC

    On April 26, 2013, Professor Albert Jan van den Berg, a professor of law of Erasmus University in Rotterdam and the former chairman of NAI, visited Beijing Arbitration Commission (hereinafter referred to as BAC), accompanied by Ms. Zheng Ruohua, the vice chairperson of ICCCA and senior counsel in Hong Kong, and other persons, who were warmly welcomed by Wang Hongsong, the deputy director of BAC, Lin Zhiwei, the secretary general of BAC and Chen Fuyong, the deputy secretary general of BAC.

    Deputy director Wang Hongsong gave Professor Van den Berg a warm welcome for his visit on behalf of BAC and thereafter introduced to the party including Professor Van den Berg such aspects of BAC in recent years as the type of the cases accepted, the amount in dispute, international cases, arbitration rules and institutional building by playing videos. Having listened to the introduction, Professor Van den Berg became very interested in many aspects of BAC, including the acceptance of international cases, acknowledgement and execution of arbitration awards, independent conciliation proceedings and appointment and assessment of arbitrators, and conducted an intensive communication with Deputy director Wang Hongsong as to the aforementioned issues.

    Afterwards, the party including Professor Albert Jan van den Berg visited the case registration hall, the library, the arbitration hall, the international conference hall and other modern office facilities of BAC with strong interest. Professor Van den Berg appreciated the unremitting efforts and successful experience of BAC in maintaining the independence of the organization, improving the profession of arbitration and international development, and was deeply impressed by efficient arbitration proceedings and advanced hardware facilities of BAC, with the hope of strengthening cooperation and communication with BAC in the future. Before the meeting finished, Deputy director Wang Hongsong and Secretary general Lin Zhiwei presented gifts carefully prepared to the party including Professor Albert Jan van den Berg on behalf of BAC and the meeting came to a successful end in a relaxing and friendly atmosphere.

    It is reported that Professor Albert Jan van den Berg, acting as the professor specially invited to give lessons for the high-end research project of international arbitration and dispute resolution of the law school of Tsinghua University, took a special trip to Beijing for the purpose of giving the lessons of Enforcement of Arbitral Awards from April 22 to 28, 2012. On April 24, 2013, Professor Albert Jan van den Berg was invited by BAC, the law school of Tsinghua University and other units to give a seminar named Consideration of Enforcement in Drafting Arbitral Awards in moot court of the law school of Tsinghua University. During the seminar, Professor Van den Berg, focusing on relevant provisions of the New York Convention as to refusing to acknowledge and execute arbitral awards, showed the guests his deep consideration and research achievements of enforcement in drafting arbitral awards, by sharing realistic issues and relevant cases as to acknowledgement and execution of arbitral awards in different jurisdictions of the world. 36 senior arbitrators of BAC presented at the meeting and positively interacted with Professor Van den Berg, interchanging their opinions on enforcement of arbitral awards in international commerce arbitration in practice

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
