BAC Attended China International General Aviation Convention 2013

    On 18-19 October, 2013, BAC’s Deputy Director WANG Hongsong attended the China International General Aviation Convention (CIGAC) 2013 held in Xi’an, Shaanxi province. With the approval of the State Council, this conference, themed “Promote General Aviation Development and Speed up Aviation Industry Cluster”, jointly sponsored by the Shaanxi government, the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC), the China Council for the Promotion of International Trade (CCPIT) and the Aviation Industry Corporation of China (AVIC), gathered more than 500 delegates from international and domestic general aviation companies.

    During the convention, BAC’s Deputy Director WANG Hongsong attended the CIGAC Summit Forum and the General Aviation Law Forum. The Summit Forum gathered more than 600 industry representatives, including LIU Feng, Deputy Director of the CAAC Department of Air Transportation and Carl Brewer, Mayor of Wichita, Kansas, USA, along with officials from several renowned international and domestic aviation companies, to discuss the prospects of the market of general aviation in China focusing on the opening of low-altitude airspace and related infrastructure development, aircraft financial lease and other issues. In her amicable exchanges with the attending guests, Deputy Director WANG Hongsong introduced the practice of BAC and answered questions about arbitral settlement of aviation disputes.

    The General Aviation Law Forum was organized by the Northwest University of Politics and Law and attended by 30 experts in the field of aviation law from the Ministry of Transport, the Northwest University of Politics and Law, Leiden University (the Netherlands), the Civil Aviation University of China, the Civil Aviation Management Institute of China, the Beijing Institute of Technology and other institutions. At the forum, BAC’s Deputy Director WANG Hongsong made the speech “Advantages of Arbitration in Settlement of Legal Disputes in General Aviation”, in which she cited the BAC arbitration rules and the actual aviation dispute cases that the BAC has handled over the years to explain the notable advantages of arbitration system in settling commercial disputes in the field of general aviation, such as final and binding arbitration awards, transparent proceedings, highly efficient adjudication process, arbitration by experts, flexible ways of settlement, lower cost, non-public trial and international effectiveness in the enforcement of arbitral awards.     The convention also celebrated the official opening of the General Aviation Law Institute of Northwest University of Politics and Law, to which Deputy Director WANG Hongsong, on behalf of BAC, extended her congratulations. Being an arbitration organization that has a long-term interest and a tradition of studies and practice in dispute resolution in the field of aviation law, BAC reached an agreement of cooperation with the General Aviation Law Institute of Northwest University of Politics and Law at the convention. The cooperation will combine the research ability of the General Aviation Law Institute of Northwest University of Politics and Law and BAC’s practical experience in dispute resolution to study and tackle legal issues in the field of general aviation.

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
