BAC Secretary-General Lin Zhiwei attended 2013 Annual National Arbitration Meeting and delivered keynote speech

    The Annual National Arbitration Meeting was held in Xiamen on November 22, 2013. Officials from the legislative affairs offices of the State Council and several regions, relevant state departments and several arbitration institutions attended this meeting themed “building the credibility of arbitration”. At the meeting, BAC Secretary-General Lin Zhiwei delivered a keynote speech titled “Thoughts on the Building of Credibility in BAC.”

    In his speech, Secretary-General Lin Zhiwei first of all stressed the point that the credibility of an arbitration institution did not come from the coercive force of the state, but from the joint accreditation of the parties involved in a case of arbitration. Arbitration institutions should maintain the trust of their parties by resolving disputes in an impartial and efficient way, which was the cornerstone for building credibility. Also, the building of credibility should not be limited to just a few arbitration institutions but should be regarded as an important task for all arbitration institutions and a crucial responsibility for the entire arbitration community, and hence the issue of building credibility should be viewed and considered from the broader perspective of the whole industry. Secretary-General Lin then proceeded to present BAC’s effective actions and successful experience in the area of building credibility from the aspects of institutional development and implementation. He elaborated on BAC’s systems of arbitrator recruitment, arbitrator supervision and supports for arbitrators’ independent awards etc., making special emphases on BAC’s systematic training for its arbitrators and its solidly established service awareness and concept when facing parties The efforts BAC has made for building credibility is reflected by operating these systems. Last but not least, Secretary-General Lin noted that credibility was an essential asset for an arbitration institution to exist and develop and that all arbitration institutions should learn from each other, help with each other and make building credibility a concrete goal for each institution and in each case, thereby winning more trust from the public with their unity and collaboration and establishing a banner of success for the building of rule of law in China. He said that BAC was full of confidence in such a great prospect.

    Secretary-General Lin’s speech resonated with a wide circle of attendees. After in-depth discussions on the issues concerning the building of credibility, the meeting was successfully concluded.

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
