International Communication

On March 1 2016, prior to the opening of the 19th Annual International Arbitration Day in Shanghai, Mr. David W. Rivkin, President of the International Bar Association (the “IBA”) visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center (the “BAC”). The host presented a brief introduction about the BAC’s development, and had an exchange of views with the guest on future cooperation with each other.

On May 8 2016, Mr. Joseph Tirado, global Co-Chair, International Arbitration Practice of Winston & Strawn LLP and Arbitrator of the BAC, and Mr. Manuel Torres Salazar, Partner of GARRIGUES, visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center. On behalf of GARRIGUES, Mr. Manuel Torres Salazar paid respect to the BAC for its contribution within the arbitral community, and expected to work with the BAC in the promotion of arbitration in Spanish speaking areas.

On March 8 2016, Mr. Daniel Urbas, Partner of Borden Ladner Gervais LLP visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center. Mr. Daniel Urbas reviewed his communication with the BAC delegation at the International Arbitration Day event, and briefly introduced Borden Ladner Gervais LLP’s practice in China. He conveyed expectation to promote the combination of international arbitration and mediation with Chinese practice jointly with the BAC.

On March 14 2016, Mr. Paul Andrew Gomez, Ambassador of Commonwealth of the Bahamas to China and Ms. Julie Campbell, Counselor of the Bahamas Embassy, visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center. The BAC presented a brief introduction of the status quo of the BAC’s development, and showed off its office, facilities and equipment to Mr. Ambassador. Mr. Ambassador said that the Bahamas has attracted a growing number of Chinese investors and increasingly frequent communication with China in economy and trade. The Bahamas therefore is now considering establishing an arbitration center, and look forward to cooperation with mainstream arbitration institutions around the world for promotion of international arbitration. The BAC extended its thanks to Mr. Ambassador for the recognition and trust of the BAC, and conveyed its wish to assist with the arbitration development in the Bahamas.

On the morning of March 18 2016, a delegation of the Nagoya University Law School students visited the BAC. The delegation was led by Prof. Pan Fangfang of the Nagoya University as the Japanese exchange group in the “Asian Campus” program between China, Japan and Korea. All the six delegation members are undergraduate students and post-graduate students of the Nagoya University Law School. The BAC extended a warm reception to the guests.

On March 28 2016, Sir William James Lynton Blair (“Mr. Justice Blair”) and Sir Robin St John Knowles (“Mr. Justice Knowles”), Justices on the Commercial Court of the High Court of England & Wales, visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center. The BAC Vice Chairperson Madame Wang Hongsong and Deputy Secretary General Dr. Chen Fuyong warmly greeted the distinguished guests, briefly introduced the development of Chinese arbitration and the BAC in recent years, and had an in-depth communication with Mr. Justice Blair and Mr. Justice Knowles with respect to the influence of macroeconomic policies on dispute resolution industry as well as dispute resolution within the real estate finance industry. Madame Wang particularly extended thanks to Mr. Justice Blair for his continuous support to the Annual Summits on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China held by the BAC in London in recent years.

 Domestic Communication

On March 9 2016, a team led by Mr. Li Aijun, Director of Internet Finance Law Institute of the China University of Political Science and Law, visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center, and conducted an extensive communication with the BAC on the research of dispute resolution mechanism of internet financial disputes and the construction of internet arbitration platform.

On March 24 2016, a delegation of the Chifeng Arbitration Commission led by its Secretary General Mr. Zhang Shuhua visited the Beijing Arbitration Commission / the Beijing International Arbitration Center. The BAC made a brief introduction of its organization and management of arbitration and mediation cases, and shared its development experience. The host and the guest had a friendly communication.

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
