On March 31 2018, the first China Arbitration Forum was invited themed“Improvement of Chinese Arbitration System and Arbitration Credibility under the New Era”successfully organized by China School of Arbitration of Southeast University of Political Science & Law in Chongqing. More than 100 participants from administrative authorities, research groups and arbitration institutions, scholars, in-house counsels and lawyers attended this forum. The Secretary General Mr. Lin Zhiwei, Case Manager Mr. Zhao Ke and Ms. Long Yan from Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center (the “BAC/BIAC”) were invited to attend this forum.
There were five topics, including “Improvement of Arbitral Credibility in the New Era”, “Judicial Supervision on Arbitration”, “New Exploration of Arbitration Practice”, “Improvement of Arbitration System” and “Arbitration on Rural Land Contract Disputes”. Secretary General Mr. Lin as a commentator on the topic of “Improvement of Arbitration Credibility in the New Era”. Based on twenty-three years’ practical experience of BAC/BIAC, Secretary General Mr. Lin points out that improvement of arbitration credibility is the true requirement for the quality of judgment and level of case management and internal impetus for innovation of arbitration institution system and improving arbitration services. In the face of increasingly fierce competition in domestic and international arbitration market, arbitration institutions shall strive to create a scientific, healthy development environment through various efforts to promote parties’ understanding of arbitration, trust and choose the arbitration as their dispute resolution mechanism.

Furthermore, Secretary General Mr. Lin Zhiwei expressed highly appreciation on the establishment of China School of Arbitration and exploration of more and more talents in commercial arbitration. He indicated that BAC/BIAC endeavors to develop into a diversified dispute resolution research center and focuses on conducting research combining arbitration practices for a long time and BAC/BIAC also integrate research forces and is willing to conduct deeper research in the area of theory and practice of commercial disputes resolution with China School of Arbitration. On behalf of BAC/BIAC, Secretary General Mr. Lin donated several books and Journals to SWUPL, including “Annual Review and Preview on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China (2017)”, “Intensive Reading of Chinese Arbitration Library • Equity Transfer Cases”, “Appreciation and Analysis of Chinese Arbitration Library • Excellent Arbitral Award”, “Beijing Arbitration Quarterly” and other books that are complied by BAC/BIAC.

It was worth mentioning that all guests in this forum expound their ideas from different perspectives and have in-depth discussion about innovating and improving arbitration institutions system, strengthening the management of arbitrators and the team management of case managers, enriching arbitral theories and practical research methods and improving arbitration credibility and arbitration system through comparative study between China and foreign countries and domestic parallel comparison. Participants listened carefully to the keynote speeches and discussions, and conducted active exchanges to promote the theme of the conference to a deeper level while divergent thinking.
