From July 2 to 3 2018, the International Forum on Belt and Road Legal Cooperation (the “Forum”) was solemnly held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. Dr. Chen Fuyong, Deputy Secretary General of the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center (the “BAC”), and Ms. Zhang Xi, Case Manager of BAC Business Development Division (International Case Division) attended the Forum.
The Forum was jointly held by the PRC Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the China Law Society, and attracted more than 300 officials and legal profession representatives from over 40 countries and over 10 international organizations. Mr. Wang Yi, State Councilor and Foreign Minister of the PRC, was present at the opening ceremony and delivered a keynote address. Mr. Wang Lequan, Chairman of the China Law Society, attended the Forum and delivered a special address.

During the Forum, Dr. Chen was invited to attend and spoke on the international round-table conference on Belt and Road Legal Exchange and Cooperation. Dr. Chen said that the BAC has been endeavored to strengthen its exchange and cooperation with legal professionals from different countries and regions, and has published the Annual Review on Commercial Dispute Resolution in China series for six consecutive years ever since 2013, based on which it organized a number of roadshows overseas, providing a bridge for the foreign community to learn about the complete picture of commercial dispute resolution in China and to have exchanges thereon. Apart from that, the BAC has made proactive response to the Belt and Road Initiative. It co-launched the Belt and Road Arbitration Plan, joined in the China-Africa Joint Arbitration Center and set up the CAJAC Beijing Center, laying a solid foundation of legal support and protection for the promotion and execution of the Belt and Road Initiative.
