An ad hoc arbitration that is seated in Hong Kong and applies Hong Kong law with both Chinese and English as the arbitration languages has recently had its three-day hearing at the Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center (the “BAC”). The Chinese party and the foreign party in this case jointly select the BAC as the place of their hearing. The BAC provided a hearing room, three lounges, remote video conference system and other support services for the hearing, and assisted with the fix-up of Chinese-English stenography equipment. After the hearing, both parties set a high value on the BAC’s hearing facilities and services.
The BAC is located in the core region of the central business district of Beijing, with convenient transportation and well-equipped commercial facilities. It is therefore competent to provide dispute resolution facilities and hearing support services for institutional arbitrations not administered by the BAC as well as ad hoc arbitrations. In 2017, the BAC provided hearing support services for an arbitration administered by the ICC International Court of Arbitration. It had a total of 3,636 hearings for arbitrations administered by itself throughout the year of 2018. With extensive experience and capability, the BAC could be a better choice to meet the parties’ expectation for dispute resolution facilities and services.
The BAC currently has 14 hearing rooms of different sizes and structures, available for structural adjustment as per the parties’ need, and so the BAC can meet the parties’ requirements for pre-hearing preparation, break taking, witness testifying via remote video system, hearing, mediation and so forth to the best of its operation.
The BAC can also provide other dispute resolution facilities and services as per the parties’ specific requirements, including but not limited to the followings:
As a dispute resolution institution, the BAC is not only equipped with cutting-edge facilities and technical capability, but also staffs fluent in both Chinese and English who can provide full and considerate hearing support services.
