The BAC/BIAC Chairperson Mr. Guo Wei and his delegation visited the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations FIATA

On 19 June, 2024, Mr. Guo Wei, the Chairperson of the Beijing Arbitration Commission/Beijing International Arbitration Center (BAC/BIAC) and his delegation visited the headquarters of the International Federation of Freight Forwarders Associations (FIATA) in Geneva, Switzerland. Mr. Stéphane Graber, the FIATA Director General received the delegation. The BAC/BIAC and the FIATA had a thorough discussion regarding the development of their respective institutions and future cooperation.

Mr. Stéphane Graber warmly welcomed Mr. Guo Wei and his delegation. He introduced that the FIATA is a non-governmental international organization representing around 40,000 freight forwarding and logistics companies worldwide, covering 150 countries and nearly 10 million practitioners. The FIATA supports the development of the global freight transport industry by setting international standards, promoting best practices, and providing professional training. He noted that China has significantly contributed to the prosperity and growth of global trade, and the BAC/BIAC also has substantial influence in international dispute resolution. The FIATA looks forward to strengthening cooperation with the BAC/BIAC to promote fair and efficient resolution of disputes in the freight forwarding sector.

Mr. Guo Wei introduced the basic information about the BAC/BIAC, the recent case data, the latest achievements in the reform of the BAC/BIAC institutional system and mechanisms, and the progress of Beijing in promoting the establishment of the International Commercial Arbitration Hub (Beijing). He emphasized that China is the world's largest trading nation, and freight forwarding plays a crucial role in international trade. Beijing, relying on its strengths as the capital city, gathers world-class dispute resolution resources and provides higher quality dispute resolution services for the freight forwarding industry. Beijing has established the Beijing International Dispute Resolution Development Center (BIDRC), which, serving as an operating platform for the International Commercial Arbitration Hub (Beijing), will offer high-level services and support for the development of domestic and foreign dispute resolution institutions in Beijing. He stated that both the BAC/BIAC and the FIATA could deepen cooperation in the field of dispute resolution to jointly safeguard global trade and economic development.

Ms. Leticia Cherini, International Trade and Law Officer of the FIATA, Dr. Chen Fuyong, the Deputy Secretary General of the BAC/BIAC, Mr. Zhang Haoliang, the Director of BAC/BIAC Business Development Division, and the BAC/BIAC Senior Counsel Mr. Yin Tong and Ms. Cheng Yiting participated in the seminar.

All disputes arising from or in connection with this contract shall be submitted to Beijing Arbitration Commission / Beijing International Arbitration Center for arbitration in accordance with its rules of arbitration. The arbitral award is final and binding upon both parties.
